Our Commitment

BeInTuner is designed with privacy at its core. We believe your practice sessions are personal, and we have no interest in collecting, storing, or analyzing your data.

What We Don't Collect

  • No personal information
  • No audio recordings
  • No browsing history
  • No usage analytics
  • No account creation required

Microphone Access

BeInTuner requests microphone access solely to detect pitch for tuning purposes. Here's what happens:

  • Audio is processed locally on your device in real-time
  • Nothing is ever recorded, stored, or transmitted
  • The app only analyzes frequency (pitch), not content
  • Processing stops immediately when you close the app

Web Browsing

The app includes a web browser to view guitar tabs. Any websites you visit through the browser are subject to their own privacy policies. BeInTuner does not track, store, or have access to your browsing activity.

Data Storage

All app data is stored locally on your device. No information is sent to our servers or any third parties because we don't have servers. The app works completely offline except for the web browser component.

Changes to This Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Since we don't collect any data, any changes will only be to clarify our existing practices or comply with legal requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my tuner showing the wrong note?

For very low notes (like cello or bass), the harmonics can be stronger than the fundamental frequency. Try playing closer to the fingerboard for a rounder tone, or pluck instead of bow. For singing, this is rarely an issue as voices have strong fundamentals.

What do the colors mean?

Green = perfectly in tune (±10 cents), Light green = close (±20 cents), Orange/Red = sharp (singing too high), Cyan/Blue = flat (singing too low). The 5px border around the app glows with these colors so you can see in your peripheral vision.

Can I use this for instruments?

Yes! BeInTuner works for voice, guitar, ukulele, cello, and most instruments. It's optimized for vocal practice with tabs, but the tuner is accurate for any pitched instrument.

Does it work offline?

The tuner works offline. The web browser requires internet to load tab websites, but once loaded, you can practice without connection.

Can I record my practice sessions?

Not currently, but we're considering adding this feature in a future update based on user feedback.

Tips for Best Results

  • Use headphones when playing along with recordings to prevent feedback
  • Sing or play in a quiet environment for most accurate detection
  • The colored border lets you focus on tabs while monitoring pitch
  • For string instruments, play closer to fingerboard for clearer fundamental
